- Pre-Primary Education is not compulsory and therefore not free.
- The length of a school day coincides that of the grade’s classes, namely 4½ to 5 hours.
- The Pre-Primary School provides an enriched environment where the child can play free – as well as organized activity.
- Pre-Primary Schools are not there to teach children to read or to write, but we follow a quality Grade R program where we use 2 Grade R Educational Books.
Birthdays
When a toddler celebrates a birthday, it is a very special occasion for us. The toddler receives a crown and his/her friends sing to him/her. Thus, as a parent you are very welcome to arrange a few days beforehand in connection with snacks. We prefer that you don’t send too much in order to prevent wastage. (This is not compulsory) Parents are also welcome to attend the birthday!!
Parent Involvement
As the school is supplementary to the parental home, not a replacement, involvement of every parent is imperative.
Good communication between parents and educators are therefore important and imperative. We thus invite you to discuss any problem involving the toddler and/or the school. Parent evenings also afford you the opportunity to meet other parents.
The door of the Principal is always open to discuss any problem. “If you’re happy at Asjassies, tell everybody, if you’re unhappy about something, tell us”
Parent’s Evenings
In the beginning of each year a Parent Meeting is convened in the form of an information evening, where we enlighten parents of certain tasks and requirements concerning our learners.
Perception and Progress Reports
Learner’s progress and formative level is evaluated and is a result of information taught by close perception by the educators as well as discussion with the parents.
At the end of each quarter the parents receive a progress report in respect of the child. This takes place during a parent’s evening where there will be an opportunity to discuss it with the educator. A computer progress report is given at the end of each term for the Middle and Grade R learners.
